Updated: Mar 31, 2020

About This Game gRally is an Indie project born of the passion of the rbr-online team crew. With its slogan #DreamExperienceBelieve the team has put full faith in this product, the fruit of hard work in free time, wich it now offers to entire community of rally simmers.gRally is not in a position to have official licenses at the moment and its starting point is a limited number of racing cars.gRally, considered its Indie character, is modding-oriented. We developed integrated Unity tools that will facilitate the insertion of your creations, whether it be additional cars or tracks.gRally has the same basic ideas of rbr-online, so expect exceptional doses of adrenaline during online session where one can compete against a host of players around the world.gRally is abreast with all new gaming hardware: VR, TrackIR and multiscreen. Sorry for that gRally but its true.Physics seems ok at some aspects but again not what you told you will feel and at any state what you should feel.I am OK with no Offcial cars right now but its a problem you know...Only FWD and RWD...no 4WD or AWD at the moment Graphics and visuals are 10yearish old but for me its again OKNice menu and screenIt has great potential and posibilities but AGAIN i doubt if will ever reach them....!. For less than \u00a33 this is actually better than I expected. It is clearly a 'very' Early Access game so keep that in mind if you do think of buying in at this stage. Recommended prepared you're willing to do some figuring out for yourself.Let's start with the most positive aspects:Oculus VR works perfectly for me and is a much better way to play the game, the corner depth perception and elevation changes are much more effectively conveyed. Given the rudimenary graphics I think VR is by far the better option at this stage. Some of the graphics pop in of the forest stage is highly noticable, eg you can count the flowers popping in on the screen as you drive towards them. Loading in from the pregame UI to ingame VR is an utterly surreal experience, in the headset you are first in a white room, them some scenery pops in, then the car above your head from an outside view, then inside the car sat in the footwell and finally that become actually a decent position looking over the wheel, so despite there being, afaik, no controls to adjust the seating position it isn't oo bad at all. Those elements aside it's a good start for the VR element of the game. The rest needs some work and I'll add a few comments about both the ok aspects and what needs some work:The VR version does need some form of visible gear selection indicator as there is nothing onscreen at the moment.Luckily I had no issues lauching the pregame UI but you will need to spend some time getting the game setup. Video ettings need to match your screen resolution and whatever controller you are using needs to be configured. There is no wizard but simply clicking the circle at the top of the control in question, steering, brakes, throttle etc and then selecting the wheel\/pedal\/button you want to assign worked for me on the TX458 wheel (remember to reverse the axis for throttle and brake too!)The game itself plays OK, there is no real road feedback on the tarmac stages, you just get some wheel shake if you hit the edges\/scenery. Wheel feedback at the moment is more weight than feel but is drivable in both VR and single screen. Forest stages have much more road feedback and bounce so there is something good to work with here. They need to add an onscreen instruction to release the handbrake at the start of stages, that initially caught me out, had the car in gear and I was going nowhere. Finally make sure you select the correct tyres for the forest stages because if you leave the grip tyres on it is a very quick trip to the trees at the first corner. It's like driving on sheet ice. With the forest tyres on normal handling is restored.I'm not sure the wheel FFB strength option is doing much, I reduced from 140 to 60 and it still flet like heavy steering. If you are easily frustrated and don't like figuring things out for yourself I would say avoid this game for now. If you are ok with a bit of experimentation and fiddling to find the right settings it is worth a go.It till be good to see how this game progresses, for \u00a33 it was worth the risk for me even at this stage, it could go either way of course and we might not see much improvement but there is the basis of something that could be good here.. It doesn't make sense to hate on gRally at this stage. It is Early Access and it is cheap. Support titles like this because that is what Early Access is about. The devs have clearly put a lot of work into getting it to this point, given their circumstances, and as a genuine supportable Early Access title, it definitely fits the mould.A lot of work is needed, but I had no trouble getting going. VR just worked perfectly straight from the beginning, and my Thrustmaster T150 and T3PA pedals were recognised and needed no configuration (except to invert inputs). As others have mentioned, the sound and the visuals are big problems, but the interface is clean and easy to navigate and the actual driving feels decent.Very curious to see where this goes and I do hope some modders jump at it.. Ok, so as others have said, super early days. But there is the bones of what could be good fun. Looking forward to more of the game as it becomes more polished!I don't have my wheel set up as yet, so there is a bit of fiddling to get stuff working, and if you make config changes, there's no 'reset to default' button - just exit the game and delete config.ini in the gRally folder, the game will remake it.Tough with digital input, but after a few laps I could get some kind of control over the car and get some nice drifts on the gravel. Keys if anyone is interested:Gear Up: QGear Down: SpaceHandbrake: Z (Must release at start of stage to go anywhere)Accelerate: SBrake: XLeft: <Right: >Couldnt get the controller working (apart from analogue steering) - it probably would given a bit of experimentation with the config file and button mapping.I feel that Mark Race's review below ( https:\/\/steamcommunity.com\/profiles\/76561197971539421\/recommended\/605760\/ ) is the fairest. I have no VR though, so can't comment on that. But as he says, be warned! If you want the game fully formed and served up to you, don't get it. If you don't mind a bit of fiddling (reminds me of messing around with emm386.exe!) and want to support the (indie) devs' efforts (IN THEIR OWN TIME!), then get it. It is only 3 quid. At that price, the content available is worth it, I feel.. If it took 8 years to get this far there is a lot of other games I would consider puting my money on !I certainly can't recomend this game for any Rally fans !It simply stinks in every way !And I am in a good mood when I write this !. It's very early doors and it has a very long way to go to be anything like a competitor to Richard Burns Rally (+ mods). However I would still recommend this to any sim racing\/rally fans as what is already there is worth the very low price being asked, with hopefully lots of updates and additions to come, but even if they never did I would still feel like I had my moneys worth.Looking forward to seeing this improve.
